Composer, writer and producer TJ Armand is a protégé of the late Grammy Award-winning producer Arif Mardin. TJ assisted Mr. Mardin at Atlantic Records on recording projects of legendary artists such as Bette Midler, Roberta Flack, Michael Crawford, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Jewel and the original Broadway cast recording of Rent.
He is a full-scholarship recipient from Berklee College Of Music and graduated with a Music Production and Engineering degree. He has worked for Atlantic Records, CBS Radio (formerly American Radio Systems), Clear Channel's MJI Network, Universal Records, and Berklee College Of Music. As a songwriter and music producer, he has published over 50 songs with Muzikotek/EMI London, DMC and Universal labels.
Armand & Paiva, LLC are accredited Broadway and Off-Broadway producers and investors, having contributed to The Great Comet starring Josh Groban (12 Tony Award nominations) with Jay and Cindy Gutterman and Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along in LA with Cody Lassen.
As an Executive Director, he has produced many concerts and stage productions including Bermuda Festival, Divertimento Music Festival (Istanbul) and the sold-out concert debut of his newest musical Sama: An American Requiem at 54 Below and Joe's Pub in New York City. Theater production credits include Terrence McNally's Tony Award-winning play Masterclass (Regional), Christina Ham's Nina Simone Four Women (International debut). Concert production credits include Chaka Khan, The Manhattan Transfer, The Queen's Six, Heather Nova, Rebecca Faulkenberry, Mary Bridget Davies and many more.
TJ Armand's musical theater career began with the local (Boston) production of 'Welcome To Stony Brook', a musical he had written and composed in 1997. His subsequent ASCAP Special Award for this work encouraged Armand to continue writing musicals and his second musical Hitchslap! (Christopher Hitchens Vs. God) was sponsored by the Humanist Society at Harvard University. Sama The Musical, his next musical in development, was awarded a residency at Williamsburg's prestigious National Sawdust in 2016.
As Partner and Executive Producer of Armand & Paiva LLC, his responsibilities include production of recording projects, developing original musical theater productions, along with consulting organizations and artists on their business career trajectories within the entertainment industry.
TJ Armand's current projects include Tony Award nominee Mary Bridget Davies' new album: Ragovoy Reimagined. Ms. Davies was nominated for her role as Janis Joplin and the tribute album to the legendary Jerry Ragovoy (1930-2011). Mr. Ragovoy is best known for Janis Joplin's Piece Of My Heart and The Rolling Stones' Time Is On My Side. The album, slated for release in October 2019, is arranged and produced by Armand. It will include rare classics and unreleased Ragovoy tunes and will be released under LOML Records.
Carl H Paiva JP
Carl hails from Bermuda! He’s a graduate of King’s College with a degree in English Literature and Art History. In 1972 he started his career in the shipping and travel business. His primary duties in the first years were where to write and execute all the shore excursions for the visiting cruise ships represented by his employer, Watlington & Conyers, LTD. One of his clients was the cruise ship known as the Sea Venture. It went on to become The Love Boat.
In 1973 Carl joined Meyer Agencies Limited, one of the largest shipping companies in Bermuda at the time. His duty was to grow the travel business and develop shore excursions for the cruise companies they represented. Among the cruise lines that he served were Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Cunard, Silverseas, Seaborn, Princess Cruises, Holland America and many more.
Carl became the Executive Vice President of Marketing for Meyer Agencies Limited. He remained at Meyer Agencies Ltd. for 25 years and in October 2000 formed his own company: C Travel Limited. C Travel Ltd grew to be a $60 million company. It became a Virtuoso member in 2003. Virtuoso is an exclusive network of high-end travel companies with members worldwide. C Travel, two years in a row, won Virtuoso’s top travel sales award in their region, beating out companies in the Caribbean, South America, Mexico and Central America. Besides these awards, C Travel was voted Best of the Best travel company in Bermuda for the entire duration of their existence.
Carl became a Justice of the Peace by the British crown via the government house in Bermuda (not the same as a JP in the US). He’s been the president of the Bermuda Travel Agencies Association, Chairman of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce for the tour division and served as a Deputy Chairman of the Bermuda Tourism Board up until 2001. He is also a member of the Bermuda Press Holdings Limited board since 2003.
Carl has been involved in music all his life and has been on the executive team of various choirs including the Geoffrey Tankard Choir and the Bermuda School of Music Choir. Carl, when in Bermuda, sings in the choir of the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.
In 2011 Carl sold C Travel Ltd to Worldview Travel (now Travel Edge). He remained with the company until 2013 and then, together with TJ Armand, formed Armand and Paiva LLC in New York.
